IS-BAO

IS-BAO – an International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations is an industry code of best practice. It has been developed by the industry for the benefit of the industry. It is the industry’s contribution to promoting highly professional operational practices. IS-BAO is intended to build upon the excellent safety record already established by business aviation.

In many business sectors, international standards are recognized for their role in facilitating global commerce. IS-BAO is similar in this respect as its fundamental purpose is to foster standardized, safe and highly professional aircraft operations.

This process allows flight department management to demonstrate  that the flight department adheres to an internationally recognized "code of best practice."

According to IBAC, the benefits of IS-BAO implementation that were identified by some of the first who had achieved IS-BAO Registration were:

For the past several years I have been certified by IBAC as an independent IS-BAO auditor and am approved by the Bermuda DCA to do audits world wide.  They now require their registered operators to have an approved safety management system in place.  IS-BAO registration fulfills that requirement.

I have extensive knowledge, not only of US FAA regulations, but EASA and OTAR as well and have registered operators as small as a single private aircraft up to large AOC management companies that are responsible for large fleets.

After undergoing a successful audit by me, an aircraft operator will receive a Certificate of Registration from IBAC. The Certificate of Registration is usually valid for two years.
